I am an experienced General Practitioner (Family Medicine Physician) having graduated from Stellenbosch University, South Africa in 1990. By 1996 I was well ensconced as a General Practitioner in New Zealand. However, over the years I became increasingly dissatisfied with what I could offer clients and indeed the whole medical system seemed broken to me, with an emphasis on pharmaceuticals that only ever seemed to (barely) control symptoms.
Through a series of life events, I was prodded to slowly start dipping my toe into alternative treatments for my family, my clients and myself. As I became aware of the potential of ortho-molecular, nutritional, epigenetic and indeed energetic modalities to enhance our health and our lives, there was no going back. I have since undertaken much formal and informal study in the areas of Functional & Integrative Medicine.
My approach to clients takes into account every facet of who they are and how they live their lives. For example I am only able to prescribe treatment for menstrual problems, if I am aware of other aspects such as diet and relationships. I gain great satisfaction from “peeling away the layers of the onion” that are the symptoms and conditions that clients’ present with, finding what works best to enhance their lives.
